Plogging On

This week we went plogging along New Bedford Road, picking up litter from beside the river and jogging it along to the nearest bin. All the litter along here can easily blow into the river and we're trying to keep our waterways clear, as part of Water Week and the Plogging with Pep campaign.
We then arrived at the Stockingstone Meadow, a riverside green space where the team at Penrose Roots have been busy all winter clearing the riverside brambles to open the space up. All their cuttings and big old bit of tree were piled up by the river and it was our job to relocate it all to the roadside for collection.
With a handy tarp and improvised use of big sticks (enjoying the Gandalf vibes) we managed to get the prickly piles loaded up and carried out to the collection point in a few heavy back-and-forth shuttle runs.
On the return run we stopped by the Wardown Park bandstand for a short resistance band workout, to strengthen all those small supporting leg muscles that help us run safely and avoid injury!
