This evening in Birmingham we had 10 fantastic runners, competing 7KM to help keep our adopted section of city centre canal clean and litter free.
Good news
Tonight it was back to our regularly monthly task of the canal litter pick. Our welcome chat this week included finding out about the successful launch of run number 50 at Solihull last week by fellow Goodgym Birmingham runner Rob! Also, tonight's task incorporated Earth Hour, this is a global campaign overseen by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to raise awareness of environmental issues. Earth Hour is this Saturday 30th March at 8:30pm-9:30pm (local time), join millions around the world to turn off the lights and speak up about why nature matters. https://www.earthhour.org/
Task Time
As we headed down the canal we split into three groups to each focus on a certain area. It was clear to see our regular trips are really making a difference with our normal litter hotspots appearing cleaner than previously. Still the team worked hard and fast filling 4 solid bags full or rubbish!
Time Trial Workout
Our good deed done it was onto the fitness session part of tonight’s task. Tonight this was our 1 mile time trial course at Millennium Point. The course is a flat, off road route of 3 and a half laps. There was a fantastic efforts from the whole group all maintaining a good consistent pace throughout. Great at working on that all important speed endurance! Special shout out as well to Millie doing a brilliant first time trial tonight! From here we took a steady run back through the city centre and to base. We finished with a good stretch of course when back. Thank you as well to Fiona for this week’s run report title!
