12 GoodGymers ran 3km and emptied 120 compost sacks for Compton Square Gardens
Thank you for coming, lots of fun and lots done for GG Islington. Welcome to newbies Louise, Fiona and Liz.
A bit about GoodGym; GG Islington has been going for 3 years and GoodGym overvall has been going since 2009. Three ways of doing good - Missions, Group Runs and Coach Runs.
After a quick warm up we headed via Highbury Fields to Compton Square Gardens to do some lovely Saturday gardening. The group of volunteers meet there every month to do some gardening work outside the glorious Union Chapel.
120 bags of compost
We split into pairs and covered the entire gardens opening up the lovely smelling compost to spread over the beautiful space.
Wheelbarrows were our friends but a couple got flat tyres, we solidered on and in 27 mins we'd spread all the compost across the garden.
On our way home we got some conditioning in and learnt how to effectively use our arms when running:
- Pocket to Socket
- 90 degrees
- No crossing over the body
Thanks for coming guys, join us every Monday for some more Islington good.
PB out.
