I had an urgent request from Foodcycle this afternoon as there was no one signed up to collect the surplus from the supermarkets. I wasn’t too hopeful as the last few weeks there has been very little to collect which has made our cooking task quite challenging.
First stop was Sainsburys, and I was delighted to be greeted by our usual guy Habib. He had got so much stuff ready for me, it was quite an upper body work out to load it up in the trolley and then into the car. Next stop, Aldi. And after hanging around a bit I was again pleasantly surprised when I was told that they had two trolley loads for me to load up for Foodcycle.
So I was really excited at my final stop at High Town Baptist Church to unload an absolute super haul of surplus for the cooking team to turn into a three course meal for the guests.
