Takes three to take down a tree 🌲
2 GoodGymers made their way to help the Old Alleynian Rugby in Southwark.
- Sunday, 7th of November 2021
- Led by Hayley Williams
Couldn't believe what luck we had postponing this community mission by a week! The Sunday morning sunshine shone brightly on Adam, Ian and Sam as they chopped, bashed and pulled their way through ivy and bushes that needed to be cut back in order to provide air flow to the main rugby pitch.
Our main mission was to cut through this one tree that had arched back to essentially turn into a bush.
We used shears, loppers and a saw to cut through the vined tree trunk. After some pulling and a few more attempts with the loppers by Ian, we managed to break through and cut the tree in half! Yet, the half we had was still to heavy to carry to our composting area. We had to do all of the same things again - shear back the smaller branches, use the loppers for the bigger branches and then the saw for the main trunk to cut through the tree (again).
We will be back towards the end of the month to continue off with more clearing of the rugby grounds and there will be a lovely Group Run in December (more to come on this).
