The Great GoodGym Food Relay
3 GoodGymers made their way to help the The Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS) in Birmingham.
- Sunday, 26th of April 2020
- Led by Birmingham runner
At the Ladywood food hub, GoodGym members Ben, David and Anthony found themselves acting as the first leg in a GoodGym Community Mission relay. They went along to the centre to sort food while Tousif waited to take food parcels out for delivery.
They went round with a trolley of double bagged bags and filled them with items such as pasta and cereal bars (also some more niche stuff like grapefruit, fresh mint and chilli's). They went have a one direction route in operation, which was well organised. Everyone was welcoming and helpful in showing them what to do. They arrived at a relatively quiet time as they don't have deliveries on Sunday to Ladywood, but hopefully it gave them a needed boost to finish for the day. Once finished with the items, they had to double knot the bags and place them on pallets ready for delivery.
These community missions are vital to keep the supply of food flowing to people in need around Birmingham as the virus and restrictions continue to dominate our lives. They will continue daily and through the weekends for the foreseeable future, so take a look at the upcoming community missions and sign up for one if you can. https://www.goodgym.org/areas/birmingham/happenings/community-missions
