Tonight was the first time a Poole leader has covered Bournemouth!
It was also only the second time at the Brewhouse for this new location, amazingly they didn't bat an eye lid to runners in red t-shirts and pack backs walking around the pub!
It was a pretty quiet night in the end with only 3 runners in total (Mani - Clearly you were missed!). So out of the three of us, there was Caprice with a bandaged wrist and myself as a townie in a city, a little lost! So it was fortunate for the lovely Hannah to balance us up a little!
It was already a wet miserable one so a direct path to the task was taken at a steady pace with Caprice being a great back marker for the um...two of us! :)
We arrived at task with Mark not yet arrived, we took a little jog around the streets of Bournemouth before returning to find Mark and his planned task! Pretty simple - empty the van, fill it up with stuff from the cupboard and sort out the cupboard a bit more! The van was full of many crates of food that had gone past best before dates and had to go into the skip which was pretty disheartening actually - lets hope in future a better way of managing food waste can be found.
Hope Housing, which to date has helped over 1800 vulnerable adults into safe supported accommodation, collects all sorts of items along the way that are personal possessions to some but left as they move onto newer places. This means a constant job of either storing items or passing them onto others who may need them. It does make you reflect on how the adults are now doing in their new homes and hope they have positive futures.
Cupboard now sorted and items cleared, it was back to the Brewhouse led by hard working Hannah down and up the 'hills' of Bournemouth town centre.
We may have been few in numbers but strong in spirits and humour!
Thanks Bournemouth for letting me joining you tonight!
