The wheels on the bed no longer go round and round, for health and safety reasons
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Islington.
- Monday, 21st of September 2020
Today Hilary and I headed to Ms C's to help with a practical task.
Recently Mr C has had a few falls, due to his bed being on wheels which have been rolling away from him. GoodGym were asked if some runners could have a go at removing these pesky wheels!
We flipped the bed over (thankfully, it was a hollow divan bed), and had a look at the wheels. The wheels themselves came off, but the 3 inch metal stems which they connected to showed no signs of shifting. After some trial and error, we finally learnt that the brute force approach enabled one to take out the entire fitting. We tackled the rest of these, then attended to another quick task.
Mr & Ms C have had a nice mirror knocking about for a while, and haven't been able to hang it up. We helped them decide where it should go (it needed to be relatively low so Ms C could use it comfortably), and then set about hanging it up.
Before long, we were done and said goodbye to Mr and Ms C before shooting off.
Mission accomplished!
