Run Report from Will
Bank Holiday Monday, 8 runners, 6K total, garden clearing AND tidying. Yes please!' was my reaction when Islington's trainer Simon was taken ill at last minute. I am not a usual Islington GG runner but had heard rumors they were 'a top bunch of people' 'loved doing good while having a giggle' and 'knew how to clear a garden like an absolute boss'. The gossip could not have been more accurate.
After meeting at Highbury pool the 8 of us did a little pre-run small talk before setting of for our 3k run to Caxton House Community Center where we met Rose and got tooled up. Our task was to clear a planting area which had become overgrown. The hope is that by clearing all the low lever overgrown plants the children from the community center can use the area for planting.
My two highlights of the run were forcing Paul Bown into a small gap and putting Paul Bown in a bin.
3K run home where we very briefly debated if non podium place finishers should also get medals. We decided - 'Yeah why not'
Thanks to the folk of GG Islington for having me. Hope I see you again soon.
Bye Bye
