Today was Catton Parkrun 8th birthday (Parkrun’s 17th) so it was dress up time with the letter O (C A T T O N ) in Catton we missed the first 2, if you wanted to of course. Not everyone likes the idea.Myself, Beks, Susanna were marshalling, Bobby and Andy were running. Plenty of costumes on display but our favourite was Goodgymer Bobby Bakewell in his home made Oreo biscuit outfit including running with a packet of Oreo in each hand, and still ran a very good time 👏👏. There were quite a few first timers today, concerns aired that they weren’t good at running, “ can I make it round” they asked, I assured them Parkrun is about making it round in your own time, never worry you’re going to let anyone down, as marshals we’re here till the tail walker arrives through the finish and your barcode is scanned. You’ll be encouraged all the way around . At the end I got a thank you, you were right. Well done everyone. Beks and I were also asked about Goodgym as we were speaking out it, we gave her details and I think she’ll sign up, even though we were in our costumes, that didn’t put her off.
