We tilt this settee with rock and roll
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.
- Friday, 7th of December 2018
The universe was smiling kindly today as Ian and I arrived almost simultaneously with a whole host of other people (& the sun!) to help move some furniture for Mrs S 😄 (Admittedly the sun didn't physically move any furniture, but I feel like it deserves credit for cheering us on as we worked anyway.)
Ian was particularly happy to be doing this mission as he'd performed the precursor to this task just over a week ago by dismantling and removing a double bed from Mrs S's bedroom. He was glad to see that Mrs S had continued to improve and was looking forward to reclaiming use of her living room 😊
For today's mission, we were to relocate a two seater sofa (along with a few other bits and bobs) from Mrs S's bedroom to her living room while some other gentlemen performed the reverse operation with a hospital bed. Two carers were also on hand to check that they could safely move Mrs S between the two rooms with the new configuration, and to provide us with some direction.
The universe smiled again for the move itself: the doorways were wide, the sofa was short... all excellent attributes for our mission to go smoothly! We ended up having to upend the sofa before rocking and rolling it a little to shuffle it along the way, after it turned out to be slightly heavier than expected (sofa bed --> this one choosing to stay in its untransformed orientation as we moved it, which made a nice change!) Overall, though, this was the type of furniture moving mission that GoodGym dreams are made of.
After staying to move a few more items around the rooms and to chat to Mrs S a little, we made our goodbyes, stopping only to take a picture of the bed (the sofa was already in use!) and a selfie on the way to the tube. Hopefully Mrs S will continue to improve as she enjoys using more of her flat 😄

Well done both! Absolutely loving the pun and great to see Mrs S's home looking more home-y now.
