It was a will they/wont they kind of day blighted by classic bank holiday weather and low numbers but the answer was, of course, they will! Very little choice of tasks is something we seem to be up against again at the moment (I’m working on it!) so it was back to an old but reliable choice of litter picking. Some of the weekend has been glorious so I knew we could rely on the Quayside for having stuff for us to pick up.
I’d brought along a waterproof and the new litter pickers for their first outing and very quickly Damu, Lucy and I got cracking. We did Stepney Bank first before heading to the Quayside- briefly getting caught up in the huge crowd at The Tyne Bar enjoying a couple of Bank Holiday Beverages and music. It was nice being serenaded! I love the chance to catch up during a litter pick and we discussed everything from jobs to tattoos and the elite biscuit choice Damu was given when giving blood today. A quick loop of the Cycle Hub car park (and a very cute child lending a hand!) and we were done: two big bags of rubbish done in 45 minutes, and a thank you from a kind member of the public.
We don’t have a task for next Monday (sob!) but we will still be on, I’m just not sure what we will be doing as yet. Send me a message if you know of a project we might be able to help.
