We've got the moves like Chair Dragger
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.
- Wednesday, 17th of October 2018
Tim and James travelled to Mr P's place on Wednesday afternoon to help move some furniture he couldn't move on his own.
Mr P had been discharged from hospital that morning. Throughout the day he would be visited by several helpers to assist with getting him set up again for life at home.
We were two of that number and a couple more - support workers from the Red Cross - let us in to the property and explained to Mr P what we were there to do: move a recliner chair next to his bed so he had somewhere comfy to sit if he wanted to get up from bed and, say, watch some T.V.
It was a small task - notwithstanding a fair bit of moving and shaking to get the chair where we needed it - but one that GoodGym is uniquely placed to fulfil. We are the unskilled labourers you need!
We were happy to help Mr P with this small improvement in his room layout. We felt like a small yet necessary cog in the larger system of people and services helping to get him acclimatised to life at home again.
