Weeding and garden tidying for Mr G
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Oxford.
- Saturday, 27th of July 2024
Mr G's garden had become overrun with tall weeds which had taken over the garden beds and were also starting to grow on the paved/gravel area. I was alone on the task and could see that I would not be able to complete it in an hour and a half and so asked Mr G to prioritise where he would like me to start. He seemed uncertain and so I just made a start. Mr G had done some hedge trimming earlier in the week and his garden waste bin was half full. He seemed a bit anxious about over filling the bin so I did a little at time and put the weeds in the bin so that he could see that there was room. He sat in the garden while I worked and talked. I filled the bin as much as I could so that I could make the most of the time available but stopped when I could see that Mr G was starting to worry about space in the bin. It was pretty close to full at that point and so I used the remaining time to sweep up and tidy the paved area and continue chatting to Mr G. It is a shame that I wasn't able to complete the task, with two people and more bin space it would have been possible.
