Wilton Needed us
17 GoodGymers made their way 5.0km to help their local community in Hackney.
- Tuesday, 4th of August 2015
In what seemed to be a cross between searing heat and apocalyptic cloud formations 17 wonderful goodgymers headed a mile east to Wilton Estate to help rid their space of weeds, gigantic roots and over grown shrubs, water some plants and the big job, assembling a metal shelving unit with nooooooo instructions.
A quick briefing and we were off, a nice pace a mile down the road where we met Lisa and the rest of the team.
We broke into 3 teams, one building the shelving unit to store garden equipment, one group watering the plants and one group attacking the roots with pick axes and giant forks.
45 minutes worth of grafting later we had filled 3 giant bags with green waste, built one shelving unit and all the flowers were smiling after drinking up all the water.
We said our goodbyes and hit the road for drills, intervals and a niiiiiice jog back to GGHackney HQ
