This evening was Elizabeth H's 700th GoodGym deed, what an incredible woman.
We visited Aslake Community Growers. One of the corners had been neglected, so our task was to start to clear it, with the main focus being removing the wire fencing and ivy.
The time went quick but we got a lot done. We finished the evening with some birthday cake.

Well done to the GoodGymers who helped cut and clear back at Catton Grove Community Centre.

It couldn't have been a more tranquil evening, as we visited Marlpit Community Gardens as the sun started to lower and the cattle grazing in the adjacent field.
We had a tough task on our hands as we started to make inroads to move a pile of bark to the other end of the gardens (about 200 metres away).
There were 7-8 wheelbarrows and it was a grueling task of shoveling the bark into the barrows and transporting them before unloading.
Liz discovered a Toad in the pile of bark, which was then safely transferred to the pond area.

We welcomed Grant to his first GoodGym deed and what a great one to pick as your first.
We met Will, the Mousehold Warden, who then took us well into the depths of Mousehold Heath (I'm glad he was there as I would have got everyone lost otherwise!).
There were 3x tasks for the team to get stuck into this evening.
1) Pop and Pull out self seeded birch trees (which will be replanted in more appropriate areas of the heath). 2) Remove some cut back gauze bushes (this is where the gauntlet gloves were very much needed). 3) Pull up some early growing bracken.
It was a very sociable evening with a great turn out of people.

This evening we visited the tranquil Bowthorpe Community Gardens, on the warmest and sunniest evening of the year so far. It felt more like July than April.
Elizabeth T was joining us on her first led session, after making her debut on a community mission at the weekend.
We had a few tasks lined up. Elizabeth H and Woody were giving the benches a good scrub and clean. Sarah & Jenny were weeding the gravel areas. Elizabeth T and Stephen were doing some painting, while I was doing some watering.
It was a lovely bright and calm evening, we all had a great time.
