Tonight 12 GoodGymer's ran or cycled 6km to Norwich Foodbank to help pack donations.
It was a cold night so everyone kept busy by splitting into groups to form a GoodGym production line - beginning with unpacking boxes of mash & juice, placing the items in plastic crates, taking the crates to be weighed before piling up crates in a corner of the warehouse.
At the same time another group broke down the left over plastic and cardboard, and pushed it on trolley to the recycling area.
In the midst of it all we had Joshua attending his 1st Good Deed, and founding member Steven celebrating his 400th with a special balloon!!
After 45 minutes the task was complete so we headed out into the cold to return home.

Today 4 GoodGymer's bravely turned up on a wet and rainy Saturday morning during Storm Claudia. The Friends of Waterloo park volunteers wanted to take advantage of the extreme weather to allow the mulch to be most affective, and they needed Goodgym’s help to achieve this.
Goodgymer’s Katy, Jonathan, Elizabeth and Sarah got to work and distributed mulch across the many flower beds. Elizabeth and Sarah were also helping transport the many mulch bags via wheelbarrow from across the park to where the beds were located.
Despite the wet weather the task was completed in good time. A few underestimated the weather and regretted not bringing gloves and raincoats but it was worth it in the end!

Tonight 8 GoodGymer's ran or cycled 6km to a community centre in Mile Cross.
Due to wet weather we had changed venues at the last minute - so thank you to the Phoenix Centre for accommodating us!
They cleared a room that needed painting with a fresh coat of magnolia. I was also able to bring some spare plastic sheeting to avoid drips & spills.
As a team we worked around the room with rollers & brushes, making full use of everyone's different heights whilst working in the same space. After an hour we had covered everything in reach, so we cleaned our brushes and tidied up after ourselves.
The good news is there are more rooms to do, so will be booking in a return visit!

Tonight 16 GoodGymers ran or cycled to support East Anglia Children's Hospice in Plumstead Road.
We had extra lights and visibility while running to the task, as we were supporting This Girl Can's campaign #LetsLiftTheCurfew to raise awareness of womens safety exercising outdoors in the darker months.
At the store we were given plenty of tasks, cleaning shelves, taking down window displays, sorting out books / furniture and breaking down boxes. It was also a chance to hunt for some bargains when sorting through donations!
Hi Five to Maddy for reaching her 100th Good Deed!! In her words she 'joined GoodGym so she didn't have to run in the dark in winter on her own' - and that is why we are here!
Thanks everyone for making this community a safe and supportive place for all.

Thanks Woody for the pun!
Today 7 GoodGymers ran 4km to join local residents and volunteers at Edmund Bacon Close.
The venue had been supplied with tools, bulbs and trees to be planted including Acers, Prurius, Viburnham and Jasmine by local community group Green Hearts. Thankfully the rain had stopped but the ground was soft so we got to work digging and planting in different areas of the grounds.
After an hour we had planted the trees and clusters of daffodills, snowdrops, bluebells and crocus.
We love forward to returning in the spring to see what has grown!

We celebrated the life of our dear Catton Parkrun family member Melissa Baker who last her battle with Cancer a few months ago. 374 people turned out on a rainy, cool morning to honour her memory with her daughter & her partner.

What a lovely way to celebrate Melissa’s life, and to demonstrate how much you valued her. I hope her family found comfort in celebrating her memory with her GG family 🙏🏼
