This week's group run saw the return of 6 GoodGymers to Beechwood Cancer Care Centre to help them to continue to tidy up their outdoor space, chop down bushes, pull out weeds and general spruce up the area.
On foot or by wheels, we arrived at Beechwood warmed up and ready to amBUSH and get to work.
Rob took the reins with the hedge trimmers to cut down the overgrown hedges.
Lauren got snappy with the secateurs.
Sian revved up the lawn mover to trim the lawn.
Laura, Hannah and Sarah heave ho'd the weeds to clear the pathways.
An hour spent in the glorious sunshine, and what a difference it made!

Back at Beechwood!
For our first post lockdown task, GoodGym Stockport had the pleasure of helping Beechwood Cancer Care with a 'boxfit' task to shift donated books from their centre and load them into vans for transportation to their shop site.
Fast forward a couple of years and we were back at Beechwood for another awesome task. This time to help them to cut back a huge, overhanging bush and tend to their outside area.
After a sunny 2km run through the back streets and bridges of Edgeley, we arrived (sweaty but with smiles) to Beechwood's Adswood Centre. Armed with mowers, sheers, brushes and smiles, we got stuck straight in.
We divided and conquered. Rob took on the overhanging bush ...and won!
Whilst Sian tackled the jungle inspired lawns.
We were merrily cheered on by members of the local community and what a transformation it was!

Welcome back Stockport!
Our first Community Mission since lockdown, and what a mission it was!
We certainly came back with a bang!
10 amazing runners/walkers/bikers all shifting a room full of donated books from the Beechwood Cancer Care Centre, Adswood, into a van, ready for transportation to their Bramhall site.
The van loading was an intricate game of Tetris - for those 1980's gamers!
We saw (and cried a little inside), we moved, and with a shed-load of muscle, we conquered!
...We even had time to peruse some pages!
Massive shout out to some first time GoodGym runners: Sophie Heather Lisa
And fabulous return for so many regular runners!
Roll on Boxfit the sequel, tonight's Community Mission, where the team will be unloading the books at their destination!

11 energetic goodgymers ran** 5km** to Beechwood cancer care centre just outside the town centre. We had a mini circuit warm up to get all muscles working so we could paint the walls of the centre with gusto.
It was a funny weather kind of run, with a feeling of rain on its way but actually pretty warm. We hot footed it to the centre which was just under 2.5km away, it felt like we were lightning running to get away from the possibility of rain.
Once we are arrived at Beechwood we were greeted by the Colette Kelly, the lovely engagement and development manager, she briefed up on the evenings task and also told us how grateful the centre were to have our help, recently they have had to have a re-shuffle of rooms to fit the amount of people having various therapies and so a few rooms needed a freshen up. On arrival the room was a washed out green colour that was well used and had lots of marks, our job was to neutralise the room, and make it back into a calming and relaxed space. Between us with a bit of music and Goodgym magic we painted the ceiling white and the walls a lovely oat cream colour, as ever it always amazes me how quickly we can get these tasks done.
After we had completed the task and admired our work we set off for the run back to Lifeleisure for a stretch off and cool down, the rain held off and we were all pretty warm so the pace slowed ever so slightly.
This week is was great to meet newbie Sarah, who has just completed the London marathon!! Well done lovely lady, it was fabulous to hear your inspiring stories and also the run club story, which wasn’t too inspiring as you were left not feeling welcome, I really hope we showed you that all run clubs are not the same!
It was also great to have Simon back after a few weeks off with a injury, welcome back mr, hope your legs are good today……..
Also good to hear that Martin and Amy made it over to Sheffield for the annual pub plog and community mission on Sunday, i heard it was great fun.
