Fine City Neighbours is a campaign to inspire Norwich residents to build relationships with their neighbours.
The aim is to help build informal neighbourhood groups during the pandemic and celebrate those that came about during the last lockdown and those that existed beforehand.
This is a project about deepening the fabric of social solidarity for the COVID recovery and beyond.
We are producing a website and a postcard to be delivered to houses across the city. The materials we produce will provide advice, guidance and inspiration for street level community building as well as links to more direct support.
Fine City Neighbours is about building relationships with people before you need them and they need you.
40 GoodGymers have supported Fine City Neighbours with 33 tasks.

We started the task with a photo session with an "oversized postcard" so we started on a high note. Our leader gave us a long list of city centre roads to deliver our "normal sized postcards" to. As we were in a group of 5 we used our combined problem solving skills to navigate our way around the maze of streets on the lookout for letterboxes to post through ( more difficult than it sounds) Please enjoy our notable knockers of Norwich. We can not be held responsible if our group photos get photo bombed. The bare faced cheek of it!!

It was a lovely sunny evening for a run round the streets off Dereham Road, looking out all the time for any “Fine City” posters displayed in people’s windows. Unfortunately none were spotted, but it was fun exploring all the little roads in the area.

Three of us went out round the streets near the park where we had previously delivered Fine City Neighbours posters - to check whether we could see any displayed in windows. Unfortunately we didn’t spot any tonight in the streets we covered. Luckily the weather stayed dry for us to finish our rounds.

Six runners gathered on a balmy early mid summer evening at Eaton Park by the bandstand. Whilst we gathered and chatted we were privy to a soothing gospel choir practicing in the background.
We welcomed new runner Sussana on her first run.
The task was to deliver information in the form of a poster to households to advertise online support services for their community. After recieving instructions from Steve, we embarked on our mission and struck off across Eaton Park.
It was a hot sunny evening and quite difficult to run so we went around as a group delivering our public service broadcast information. Lots of people were out and about so it was nice to engage with the local community and there were lots of smiles.
We had a successful mission - the only hiccup when we realised one of the roads was located in Pensylvania, USA. We considered running dowen to Heathrow to catch a flight but then decided against it as we thought Steve would probably not be impressed.
After we finally found the missing Norvic Drive (meant getting a bit lost!!) we completed our task delivery and ran/walked back to the bandstand to cycle home.
Well done everyone who took part!!

Elizabeth, Liz and myself met Hitch (Steven) at Eaton Park on what has been a beautifully hot day ☀️
Our mission tonight was delivering more posters for 'Fine City Neighbours' which took us around the area South of the park. It was quite a hilly area for a hot day but we got the job done ☀️😊

We met birthday boy Steve at the bandstand to give out the Posters for delivery around the streets around the South side of the park. Liz, Angela and Elizabeth soon organised themselves along the route, the posters being more difficult to post through letterbox’s compared to the postcards but we soon got into a rhythm. Liz and Elizabeth found themselves in a lovely area of beautiful small homes we believe were for older people which were in a circle around a lovely large pond, all had chairs outside their front doors which made a lovely sun trap. I even came across a family of ducks. If you look in the background across the pond you’ll see Liz on her delivery run 😃We joined up with Angela to finish the final road, then Liz finished off houses on her run home, and Angela finished off the final close on her run home. We were very lucky with the weather, it turned out to be sunny! Girl power again !
