St. Anne's House

We are a creative community hub in St. Anne's.

St. Anne's House is run by the charity organisation Bricks. Home to artists, designers, makers, organisations, well-being, fitness classes, music labels, and theatre producers, we as a community bring people together to share their vision for future growth.

Grounded in community connection you can find social groups, meet-ups, workshops, talks, exhibitions, and events happening regularly with the focus on engaging and starting conversations.

22 GoodGymers have supported St. Anne's House with 6 tasks.

Stripping the willow at St Anne’s

Tuesday 9th May 2023

Written by VaguelyNorthernDarren

10 runners ran, walked and hobbled to St Anne’s this evening to continue the clearing the overgrowth at the back (it might not have been willow), the ivy at the front, and the litter everywhere else. We welcomed Josh for his first GoodGym this evening, and Clo discovered early on the run that he was doing his first ultra, so passed him over to Matt who may have ran the odd long distance run or two, some of them not even up mountains.

Jason and Frances walked and joined in at St Anne’s - great to have walkers even when Melanie was poorly back at home.

Vaguely Northern Darren was in his element as Run Director but we can’t upload the photos yet to prove it!

Great to see everyone, more next week.

And after all, there’s an actual wall

Tuesday 28th March 2023

Written by Melanie Young (she/her)

It was still daylight! We met in daylight and tasked in daylight - Spring is here!

It was a longer run out today but nice and flat along the river and we were meeting up with Erin who showed us the wildlife wilderness/wasteland cliff face at the back of St Anne's House.

Our main tasks were to free the tree and reveal the wall which Erin promised was there. Lots of brambles, moss, nettles and mini sycamore trees were trying to take over the space and fortunately we had lots of chopping and cutting tools and Lucas who discovered how useful discarded laminated or plasticated notices are as grabbers for brambly clumps of sticks and stuff - welcome to GoodGym and a belated welcome to Bristol from Brazil, two years ago!

Big piles of brambles, weeds, nettles and other weeds were made and the wall and tree looked lovely. Erin, the task owner, was suitably impressed and has asked us back sometime soon. We were soon talking all things worm (w-air-m in Scouse) and have started our improving our language skills in Brazilian Portuguese with minhoca (a cross between Menorca and pinata to my untrained ear) which absolutely isn't Lucas's new nickname.

We were saying a temporary goodbye to Sarah K as she heads off to Canada for three months and Russ has one more Tuesday before he heads off on his travels.

The outside front area of St Anne's House is now spotless of any litter with a rubbish bag filled. Tidy!

Monday 23rd January 2023

Written by Bristol runner

We completed more painting; the back of the door from last week and more of the toilet cubicle to tidy it all up. We also admired the dried painting from last week.

Erin is going to make a list of more tasks that could help them. Gg will be back next week!

(P)aint that all-white

Tuesday 17th January 2023

Written by Bristol runner

We painted two doors with white paint to give them a freshen up and Fi painted over rude words graffiti in the toilets which had been complained about. Doesn't Fi look great in her long pink overalls!

The doors and wall now look so much better. Erin from St Anne's House was very pleased; so it was all white!
