The Chev Gateshead Ltd opened its doors in June 2020 in response to the Covid pandemic and the realisation that young adults were feeling very vulnerable and isolated. The Chev Gateshead Ltd has been set up to help teenagers and adults with disabilities , and their families, from Gateshead. The Chev Gateshead Ltd provides opportunities for young adults with disabilities to socialise with others like them and with their peers from the mainstream, opportunities for leisure and learning and improvement of skills, physical exercise in the form of weekly aerobics classes and trips to venues which provide opportunity for stretching their limits, respite from the daily challenges of life and respite for carers and families. The Chev Gateshead Ltd provides a platform for adults with special needs to express themselves in a non-threatening and non-judgmental environment by way of focused discussion groups and production of a six weekly magazine in which they can air their views, opinions and grievances and where opportunity for creative writing is provided, thereby promoting good mental health.
4 GoodGymers have supported The Chev allotment with 1 task.

We arrived ready to lend a hand at the Chev allotment.
The first task involved moving some wooden boards/planks from one side of the allotment to the other. This required a lot of teamwork, balancing and laughter.
The second task was a general tidy up. This required out of the pot thinking, some welly pairing and some more laughter.
Look out for more tasks with the Chev allotment.
Cheer Michael on from afar as he completes in the round Sheffield run on Sunday.
All are welcome to Goodgym.
