Icy reception at Tremorfa Parkrun

Saturday 18th January 2020

Written by Cardiff runner

Sadly the Tremorfa parkrun had to be cancelled due to ice on the course.

Some of the GoodGym volunteers had still arrived early to check the course and then to stand in the super slippery car park and at park entrances to let people who arrived expecting to run parkrun know that it had been cancelled :(

Safety first!

Volunteering at Park Run

Saturday 11th January 2020

Written by Ellen

Ted added yet another good deed to his total so far for this year's January ! Now into double digits, he's definitely pulled out in front, with the closest runners a good 3-4 deeds behind.

Will he finish in the top spot by the end of the month? Will he get pipped to the post by an ambitious good-deed doer? Will he run out of steam and shudder to a halt before he gets the good?

We'll all just have to wait and see!

Written by Nathan Swain

After starting the new year with a parkrun, eight cardiff goodgym runners stuck around and completed a litter pick. The runners even inspired some new years day walkers to grab some litter they were passing and dispose of them in our bags

January challenge has kicked off and GG Cardiff and the Vale have hit the ground running

Is it secret?! Is it safe?!

Saturday 14th September 2019

Written by Ellen

This past Saturday, 13 GoodGym runners met up at a new, top secret location to help with a run through (ha!) of a new ParkRun in Cardiff. Before it is launched, any new ParkRun needs to be tested out - the route, the timings, the scanning, the marshaling points etc. And this was our big chance to support the race directors and other volunteers in getting everything just right for the start day. And all at a secret new location - exciting!

Using the Three Word app (plus nearest postcode), we navigated our way to the race location. Kitted up with highviz vests, lanyards, and any additional tools we needed (mainly our own phones loaded with the ParkRun Volunteer app), we spent an incredibly enjoyable hour helping out and watching the runners race by. All the runners finished in the top 20, too ;-)

Tremendous fun! More for us, please!
