Gosia visited Vauxhall Garden Community Centre to help with sorting the food bank donations. I have arrived just before 10 am, and was welcomed by M who explained what needs to be sorted today.

The tasks included:

• moving duck portions 🦆 to fridges;
• unpacking and sorting the bananas 🍌;
• preparing and moving cauliflowers 🥬 to fridges;
• sorting packages with blue cheese 🧀;
• categorising and sorting items from mixed donation boxes 📦;
• tidying plastic boxes for future donations.

The entire task took just a bit more than half and hour and everything that needed to be done has been completed. I was working together with one more volunteer (not from GoodGym), which made the task go very quickly and smoothly.

Nice way to start the New Year ❤️.

Unfortunately, this session didn't take place today. I arrived at the centre around 11:50 a.m., but the door was locked. I telephoned the contact number, which was invalid.

After waiting a few minutes outside the entrance, the door opened, I spoke to someone and informed them that I was here for the GoodGym session. They told me there was no food bank today and it had been cancelled. Therefore as far as I know this session did not take place.

The delivery did not arrive while we were on site therefore we instead assisted the team with portioning washing powder and other sundry items, ready for pickup by guests.

Inspite of a delayed train, I arrived at the same time as the delivery van, packed spaghetti alongside another volunteering and stored perishables in the fridge followed by a arm cup of tea. Another great visit at VGCC.

It was nice to be back at VCG, delivery was early this time but there wasn't much so we sorted what we could, portioned mac and cheese and artisan bread. Then had a well deserved cup of tea.

The delivery driver was late so we occupied ourselves with cutting cheese (not a euphemism) and wrapping them in cling film then promptly u loaded the truck on arrival and sorted and stored fresh produce in the fridge. Good session as usual.
