Tonight we welcomed Will to GoodGym for the first time, It’s great to have you on board.
Tom did the front marking and Sam the back, as we headed too our task destination. 3k in total was completed by our arrival as we were warmly greeted by Megan. There was plenty to do, first job was to move some tyres from one end of the wildlife area to the other (hence this weeks pun). Then Karin and Laura did a fine job of spray painting the tyres as they are to be used as planters. Whilst Laura and Karin did that, Aaron and Will created an area for a compost heap with sticks. The rest of the group had plenty to do, some having the very physical job of removing ivy from tree trunks and the others doing a litter pick.
After doing a grand job we headed back to 1000 Trades, this time via the canal. That took us up to a nice 6k in total.
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.

On a perfect night for Running we had nine runners raring to go. Our Mission was to run to the Mission, Brum Mission in fact.
Once at our task destination, the group were split into two groups. One group were serving and the other group were in the kitchen plating up the food and helping dry up.
Once done it was hill time! Kenyan hills tonight, running hard up but also hard back down. The task was two sets of four minute efforts with a one minute rest in between the sets.
Aaron launched his way to the front with Balal preparing for the Stratford Marathon on Sunday not far behind. Fiona showed some great strength and Laura demonstrated a perfect arm action. Tatyana put in some awesome work on her first hill session. Once the first set was done the second set got very tough, but I made it even tougher by adding an extra minute and only telling them with what the group thought was ten seconds to go! It wasn’t my most popular decision, but anyway it inspired this weeks pun! Despite the groups collective groans for the extra minute, they still put everything into it and deserved their little sit down on the wall after (see picture).
It was now time for the steady run back, with Aaron front marking and Rob back marking. Once back that was around 7k completed, top work everyone!
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.

We were delighted to welcome both Emma and Tatyana to GoodGym Brum for the first time. Last night was a bit of a celebration as five of our regular runners have birthday's this week, myself last night, Morwenna, George, Laura and Aidan all covering other days during the week so what better time for a GG social. But first of course was the 'do good' and 'getting fit' bit.
The group ran down the canal, armed with bags and litter picks. Once on the canal we split into three groups, each clearing a different section of the canal. Once done we all met up at Aston Lock, had a quick picture, which was kindly taken by another runner and we were on our way again. The group ran in two separate parties, one slightly faster than the other, taking in more of the canal, before arriving at Millenium Point and then heading through the town back to 1000 Trades. Yep no fitness session this week, that was replaced by some arm curls with pint glasses! Happy Birthday to all those GoodGymers this week I hope you have a fantastic day when it arrives!
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.

Solihull Report written by Rob
We did it - Goodgym’s 50th group is officially launched!
31 runners ran 5km to Newlands Bishop Farm as part of the GoodGym Solihull launch. At the farm we met Dan, who showed us around and gave us an insight into the work they do, providing jobs for adults with learning difficulties and enabling them to gain new skills. We’ll be back in the summer months to help them out with digging, painting, gardening and much more!
Runners also took part in two mini fitness sessions, with high intensity training, reps and group activities. Everyone gave it their all and completed the session still smiling.
We then ran back to our start location, the Royal British Legion Club, where we cooled down with some stretches.
Thank you so much for attending and giving it your all, with the run, the fitness sessions and meeting new people. It was great to chat to lots of you and get the GoodGym ball rolling in Solihull!
It would be great to see you next week in Tudor Grange Park for our litter pick as part of the Great British Spring Clean.

Coventry Report written by Liz Pharoah
Wow, what a first week. You lots are amazing. Forty one runners ran 5 km in total to Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind on the19th March where they weeded, cleaned paths, moved sheds and rafts to clear a fantastic area which will now be used to build a shelter for visiting Guide Dogs.
Having been greeted by Hugh and Jo at the Centre and having learned about how the task would benefit, our busy 41 set off on competing the task. Due to the nature of the task, as well as the participating in the task runners also participated in a mini fitness session. The transformation of the garden was impressive with a shed, desks and at least 15 bags of weeds relocated to a skip. Having been thanked by Jo, we headed off to complete our fitness session.
The fitness session started with finding a buddy and then completing laps of the park mixed with some strengthening exercises. All runners gave it their all on the reps and completed the session with smiles beaming.
Thank you so much for attending and giving it your all, not only on the task but on the fitness session afterwards. It was great to chat to lots of you, hope I can catch up with the rest of you at sessions in the future.

Great concept and amazingly effective, both socially and physically. Running with a purpose just makes it so much more meaningful (and motivating). I will definitely join in again.

I really enjoyed this run. This was my first official run after about 30 years. Running with a purpose to help and support vulnerable adults really motivate me. I will run again and again. Thanks to Liz, Rob and other colleagues for continuous encouragement in the run.
