Colchester Report written by Frazer
Another pleasant evening in our early summer saw five Goodgymmers greeted by a blast of crooner classics outside the Mercury theatre. After a casual stroll to the high st we met Pam and got to work clearing the flower beds, with a few different challenges to meet.
There was preserving some flowers, removing others and then removing the weedy soil altogether, limited by bags and their weight. Some chat about archeology as we discovered how deep those flower beds go, sadly nothing but glass shards uncovered by our team.
Following the task we loaded up Pam's car (after she demonstrated her impressed strength!) then unloaded them at her home too, a thorough job that will need a follow up soon.
Join us next week for some post-task drinks in town!

Famous Five go down to the river...
We gathered at the Mercury for the task brief from Tav, and a quick discussion about running news. Bob is planning ahead for next year's half marathon, so if you're also considering it - you'll be in good company! We took a meandering route this evening, taking in a sweep past the college, a duck under the tunnel, a poke along the river and a rummage in the bracken. Notable finds on our litter pick included two socks, numerous drinks cans and bottles, vaping paraphernalia, cigarette butts a plenty and a plastic spoon. Join us next time for fun, fitness and doing good!

Well, actually this run report title, inspired by Beyonce's 2011 song 'Run the World', is pretty accurate. Let us use the wonderful city of Colchester as an example. . So we volunteer to help and in Colchester all major city events, races, festivals, art galleries, theatres, charities and even the police rely on volunteers. So I would like to sing the praises of the unsung, in Colchester and beyond. The people who see that change needs a proactive approach...you run things!
Other than hearing a Beyonce song on the radio, this report is inspired by Bob, a Goodgymer since 2017, who has returned to Goodgym, was missed and is an incredibly committed and hard working member of the team.
