Thursday 8th August
Clare earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Clare completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Clare was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Woking Report written by Woking runner
Alys (and Quinn), Clare, Claire, Julie, Nadia and Anne were welcomed by Claud at the RSPCA in Chobham before tackling the invasion of brambles and nettles in the dogs's compounds.
The main gate being locked, Claud showed us the way to two other dogs's compounds where our help was needed. Nadia had warned us she was delayed, so Anne offered to go back to the car park and show her the new route. Unfortunately for Nadia, Anne, being jet-lagged -good excuse to diminish her complete lack of orienteering-, could not remember the way to the new compounds where the rest of the team was already clearing the borders of unwanted plants. Thank goodness, Alys came to the rescue, so the day was saved!
We all got stung by nettles, pricked by thistles and scratched by brambles, but managed to make quite a difference to both areas and filled up 3 big bags. Well done to all!
On Sunday, a group of us will help at junior parkrun, will you join in? Or you could run with us next Wednesday when we will be "leafletting" to advertise the good work done by GoodGym!
In the meantime, enjoy your runs!

Wow, England are in the Final, do we dare believe that 2024 could be the year... ๐ค๐ฝ
This evening Wayne, Kirsty, Anne, Nadia, Katie, Julie, & Clare met at the earlier time of 6:30 due to England's game kicking off at 8pm.
It was great having Kirsty back running with us after her injury ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ. We started at WWF and ran through Horsell Common through the woods and over the new wet land area its a lovely 2.5k run. We arrived at the Church where we met Adrian who quickly gave us our tasks.
We split up into 2 teams. Anne, Kirsty, Katie, & Clare were tasked with wiping down the skirting in the hall lobby and then sanding it down ready to be painted. Wayne, Nadia, & Julie had to remove the brambles from the front of the church so the pathway was clear. We quickly got going until Julie spotted an Ants next we carefully worked around the nest trying not to disturb it. We were working really well and at a good pace as we all wanted to get hone for the game.
The girls doing the sanding were also going at a good pace and did a fantastic job. Adrian was really happy with our work and has asked us to cone back to finish off. Once finished we put the tools away and headed back to WWF.
Next Wednesday we are doing a litter pick in the community and straight after heading to the Soverigns for Ann Fransisco giving Anne a great send off.. ๐พ๐ฅ

Woking Report written by Woking runner
This week, Adam, Anne, Julie and Nadia welcomed Clare when they met at the RSPCA in Chobham.
It was Clare first mission with GoodGym. She is a runner who is not running at the moment, due to injury (does this sound familiar to us?). She is really happy to have found GoodGym as she is keen to combine running to helping the community; and we are delighted that Clare joined us.
We were asked to clear as much as possible the brambles, nettles and other unwelcomed plants around the dogsโs compound. We were only two teams but managed to work through half the area. The teams worked like machinesโฆ. We were quite pleased with the result as it made such a difference. Another eveningโs work and it will be all doneโฆ
We ended the evening with the GoodGym spirit: a run around the field followed by another run round the paddock. It was challenging and great fun.
If you are available, it would be lovely to see you this coming Sunday at Woking Park to support junior parkrun.
Next week we will do more gardening tasks at Woodham Parish Church. We will start running from WWF.
In the meantime, happy running to everyone. ๐
