Yuletide Tidy

Portsmouth Report written by Jen Stoneham

Congratulations to Katie on reaching 500 GOOD DEEDS this evening! We reminisced on some of Katie's most memorable tasks over the years - so many fun memories!

College Park was remarkably tidy, but we still managed three reasonably full bags of rubbish on our turn around the area.

Good Deed complete, we went on a brief walking tour of local Christmas Lights, and even managed to collect the last two photos for the festive scavenger hunt. The evening was rounded off with a quick pub trip to celebrate an amazing year of GoodGym Portsmouth.

Mystery Machines

Portsmouth Report written by Jen Stoneham

Despite BBC predicting a 100% chance of rain all afternoon, the weather kindly held off for us to complete a scavenger hunt through the pubs of Portsmouth.

Meeting at the Merchant House, and leaving ourselves semi-comatose after some particularly large festive burgers, our squad set out to help the fictitious Gigi to meet up with her blind date.

Sinéad's incredible gig memory helped solve a clue after a poster was unfortunately changed since our reconnaissance mission two weeks ago! We nearly met the same fate at The Bowls Club, but after causing some minor confusion to some local OAPs, the squad of merry GoodGymers were able to crack the next code.

We finished celebrations at The Jolly Sailor, where the annual awards were announced and distributed.

Clean, Dust, Clear and Gloss

Portsmouth Report written by Jen Stoneham

As usual on our trips to the synagogue, Barbara had found plenty of tasks to complete keep us busy.

The boys got stuck in with sanding, dusting and glossing a table that was in need of some TLC. Meanwhile, Henry Hoover was in demand, with the Katies in the main chapel and up and down the staircases. Sinéad and Sammy were kept busy in the kitchen corridor with some clearing, cleaning and dusting.

We also enjoyed some mince pies, provided by Sam, and received a lovely Christmas Card and some goodies from Barbara and her team.

The Peel of Jingle Bells

Portsmouth Report written by Jen Stoneham

We had a bit of an unusual session this week, stretching our creative muscles rather than our physical ones. I think this was very much appreciated in the sudden cold snap - great numbers tonight!

Dave and Sinéad kept to Gym in GoodGym for us, with a couple of laps of the churchyard before joining us in the community centre to get creating.

We had beautiful table pieces, wreaths, orange peel tree hangings, hand-decorated garlands and some very intricate and mathematical giant baubles. Wilson showed true determination, and with the help of Maxine and baby Margaux completed their challenge! Katie and Vicki were another dream team, producing another masterpiece.

Special thanks to Judy for her creativity, resources and epic foraging skills for providing us with such a lovely task this evening. It was truly wonderful!
