A massive well done to everyone tonight - especially on the hills and for still coming despite the threat of thunderstorms!
Tonight’s task was to litter pick in Brueton Park for LoveSolihull Great Britsh Spring Clean, becoming #litterheroes
Once we had filled 3 big bags with litter, Emma took us on a mini trail run to the starting point for tonight’s hill session! We did 6 minutes of continuous running hard up the hill, turning around at the top and recovering back down.
A big well done to Emma, Jessica, Tasha and Rachel for doing their first ever hill session - you all showed great effort pushing yourselves all the way!
After this, it was time for a slightly longer run back to base to build up our running distance and a quick stretch to finish.
See you all next week to carry on the great job painting the Age UK charity shop and you never know, there may be some more cameras around!

We were delighted to welcome both Emma and Tatyana to GoodGym Brum for the first time. Last night was a bit of a celebration as five of our regular runners have birthday's this week, myself last night, Morwenna, George, Laura and Aidan all covering other days during the week so what better time for a GG social. But first of course was the 'do good' and 'getting fit' bit.
The group ran down the canal, armed with bags and litter picks. Once on the canal we split into three groups, each clearing a different section of the canal. Once done we all met up at Aston Lock, had a quick picture, which was kindly taken by another runner and we were on our way again. The group ran in two separate parties, one slightly faster than the other, taking in more of the canal, before arriving at Millenium Point and then heading through the town back to 1000 Trades. Yep no fitness session this week, that was replaced by some arm curls with pint glasses! Happy Birthday to all those GoodGymers this week I hope you have a fantastic day when it arrives!
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.

Many people use the canals to run/walk/cycle along, also wildlife can ingest the litter if not cleared

Well done to everyone, you all did an excellent job painting the shop again this week!
Our task this week was to go back to the Age UK charity shop for more painting, helping to liven up the shop. Veronica and her team had done some more painting since last week but there was still plenty for us to do.
Once we had said our goodbyes and had a picture, it was off to Tudor Grange Park to do our one mile time trial for the very first time.
Everyone really pushed themselves, with lots of PBs, a great achievement for all!
We will be going back to the shop in a few weeks’ time to help out again and work on the finishing touches! There’s also a possibility we could be on local TV.
See you all next week for a slightly longer run (about 3k each way) to the Courtyard. We will be helping out by doing some gardening and tidying in the communal garden.

A massive well done to everyone tonight, we’re halfway there to a newly painted charity shop!
Tonight’s task involved running to Age UK’s charity shop and livening the place up with a fresh coat of paint. Upon arrival Veronica had everything ready for us so we could get stuck in straight away!
Once we had painted the two walls, we took the obligatory team photo to show off our hard work, along with all the wonderful hats for sale in the shop! Then it was off to Tudor Grange Park for a pyramid session. This involves running hard for increasing intervals (from 30 seconds to 1 minute) with 30 seconds rest in between. Everyone pushed themselves and showed good commitment to the session.
It’s all about controlling efforts and spreading your energy evenly over a set time, just like you would in a perfect race setting.
Once we got our breaths back, it was time for a short run back to base followed by a cool down stretch.
Great to see some regular faces on our Wednesday nights and congratulations to Maya on her first GoodGym Solihull run.
See you all next week for more painting with Age UK!
