Every litter bit helps!

Poole Report written by Sophie Cuff

Three goodgymers, Joanna, Emma and Sophie, met in baiter park for a rather wet and windy litter pick. We did not ‘waste’ any time and got stuck in, collecting all the litter we saw along our 2.5k route. Although there didn’t seem to be much litter, we managed to fill one large bin bag. Some notable finds include: a Pokémon card, a sock, a towel and a Christmas mug!

Movie Magic

Bournemouth Report written by Janet Beauchamp

Nine Goodgymers attended the monthly care home quiz. Well done to Eleanor for putting the gym into Goodgym by running all the way there and back! It was lovely to receive such a warm welcome from the residents now that it’s turning darker and chillier outside. This month Janet took on the role of quiz master, starting with a picture round of old movie posters from the 1930s and 1940s. This caused much discussion among the three teams, with renditions of Judy Garland hits being heard across the room! Unfortunately, our lovely 100 year old resident couldn’t quite remember where Judy Garland’s train was going (St.Louis) so the film title evaded her. There were science and nature, geography and general knowledge rounds, with a few trick questions thrown in. Did you know that Albert Einstein’s wife was an Einstein even before she got married? Turns out, only one of our teams did (or they made a lucky guess)! And the Waikato River may sound Japanese but is, in fact, the longest river in New Zealand. Congratulations to the Middlemarchers with a phenomenal total of 41 out of 46. There was only a point in it for the two runners-up teams. Well done everyone!

We may not have won the war but I think we win the battle!

Poole Report written by Kimberley Powell (She/her)

Sophie, Emma and Kim joined other volunteers with Wimborne War on Waste to do a litter pick around Wimborne town centre.

Amongst the many beer bottles and bits of plastic some of the most unusual items found were an old paddling pool and a squashed shopping basket.

Thank you Wimborne War on Waste for having us. We look forward to the next one!

Emma Cuff completed 25 good deeds with GoodGym.

Emma has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.

Spreading the word of Goodgym

Poole Report written by Kimberley Powell (She/her)

Emma, Sylvie, Harry and Kim joined together to deliver some leaflets in their area of Poole to help spread the word of Goodgym. It was a success of pounding the pavements, putting leaflets through local homes and some of the team took a leaflets home to spread the word with work colleagues.

Hopefully we’ll have found some new Goodgym members or have built some connections with the community looking for help with new missions.
