Liverpool Sunflowers had asked Goodgym to help out on a task tonight. We arrived to find our instructions all set out. We love clear guidelines and Mat who had arrived first held up the instructions for us to read as we entered.
One thousand envelopes each needed to have two sunflower seeds put in and sealed.
It's one of those tasks that with 11 of us took a small amount of time, but if one person had been doing it would have taken so long. We were all congratulating ourselves on how quickly we had completed the task and how little space the thousand envelopes took up when Heetu found the second box of envelopes .... yep we had only done 500.
Phew much as we love to come to Sunflowers we would have been embarrassed to have had to return having done half a job.
So task completed we left into the dark night (not long til it will be light at task end).
Welcome to Jes and Deekay on their first task look forward to seeing you again soon.

Just as the cold snap was really setting in, 4 runners met on Hope street and made our way just over 1 mile to Blundell Street. It was great to welcome Amy for her first task in Liverpool, but 100th overall! Congratulations on earning your wings!
This week we were helping Elaine from Urban GreenUp to tidy up the Wapping site. Having just won a biodiversity award for the project, Elaine was keen to have it looking it's best. Were tasked with leaf raking and removing the Joe Pye (who knew this was a weed!?). Thankfully, due to the sandy soil, the weeds came up with ease and we were able to remove more or less all of it - Well done everyone!

This week we were at the Quaker Meeting House to tidy up their Peace garden.
When we arrived we were taken to the car park where the 'tools' were stored. Armed only with a couple of trowels and some foraged spoons we headed out into the garden!
The garden consists of a number of raised beds on the street outside the Quaker Meeting House, with the aim of being a restful and sustaining place in the city centre. Unfortunately the beds had become a little neglected and needed tidying up and some plants adding. We set to work brushing up, throwing away cigarette butts and planting to make the space a nicer place to be.
With 11 pairs of hands, we were done in no time with that garden spruced up and ready for people to enjoy! Well done all. Special shout out goes to Eleanorfor completing her 15th task! And to Heetu for NOT breaking the brush!

The season has definitely changed and the weather was decidedly parky on parkrun day. This didn't put off a crowd of Goodgymers turn up for our monthly parkrun session.
Eileen is a core volunteer at park run and true to form she was at her regular spot with her stack of tokens. It may have been chilly but that didn't deter Julie from hardily wearing her Goodgym t shirt. Well done to Farnaz for her first parkrun the first of many I am sure as she made it look so easy. Liam wasn't running today but that didn't stop him coming down to support the runners, ensure everyone had a point to gather at the end and remember to get the photo taken. Aditaya and Ellie both ran with springs in their step throughout and and incidently both ran good times.
Parkrun done it was time for the task at Urban Green Up - and Aditya ,Ellie, Farnaz and Liam joined by Sallyann went down to the Urban Green Up - finding we had time to spare we decided some refreshments were in order and yayyy there was a cafe (aptly named Thoughtfully cafe )right near the tastk which served delicious treats and a mighty fine chilli hot chocolate just right for a chilly day.
Whilst sat in the cafe we heard from Roz who was doing some park run tourism in Stretford congratulations Roz on your best time this year.
