10 Hackney GoodGymers ran 6.5k to Hackney Wick Community Garden to help get the garden inline with some Health and safety directives.
Happily the rain parted for the run to allow a lovely Summers run down to the beautiful River Lea!
Huge GG Tuesday for Dharmesh a superb ** GoodDeed Hat trick!!!** Mayors Run, Mission and Group Run in an action packed Running and volunteering Tuesday. Well played sir!!
Big Shout Out for a ** Community Mission in Stoke Newington This Evening!!** sign up here to keep the plants watered and Clair company!!
After a visit from Hackney Councils chief gardener who was very impressed with the amazing efforts that have gone into the garden a few points to increase accessibility were raised and we were here to deliver.
Shovelling back some a gravelly mound to widen the path as well as moving brown bins to the 2nd garden and rehousing the wood store and wood in it so that the path from front to back gate was easy to use for Children from the adjoining school who are unable to use stairs to get to the Copper Box area.
With all the jobs complete we had time for a biscuit or 2 as well as a orange cordial shot of energy before we ran off back to base through the amazing Victoria Park!
See you next week for our run to Abney Park!!

14 Hackney GoodGymers ran 5k to St Johns Church yard to hoe away 25 sacks of weeds from the church yard to allow so spring time planting to take place!
Great to have our GG first timers along for some fun on the run!
With a very close by task we took a slightly meandering 2k route to meet Hackney Parks main man Bruce! Bruce is always prepared and great to have such great kit for the tank!!
With a range of Continental garden hoes to choose from we got pushing and scraping away all the weeds and roots from the flower beds as well as many hundreds of cigarette butts, bottle tops and and a couple of penny’s.
Working in the beautiful sunset with the rain holding off we cleared the huge flower bed in 40 highly productive minutes!
With just enough time for a choice of routes back to base we went old school wit a speedy and Sexy group with either a 2k route or a pacey 3.5k loop!
Great to have you all along and hope to see you all again next week for our trip to Hackney Wick Riverside Community Garden!!
Have a great week
Joel
