It was my 100th GoodGym task tonight, a fact not missed by Kati Law who ensured I wore the fairy wings as is traditional for a 100th task in Huddersfield. Along with Kati and I, Ben Godfrey, Tom Elcock, Jackie Cork and Catherine Gormley managed to shift another stack of flyers promoting Kirkwood's Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme. Well done folks another good job done!

An entirely new task for the Huddersfield GoodGym crew this week, with a job helping to keep our town centre tidy. Andy Goff from Kirklees Council want some assistance weeding and pruning the various planters situated around the town centre, and for the less horticulturally inclined he'd brought along some litter pickers and bin bags.
With eight GoodGymmers, a clear plan of action and a lovely sunny evening there was potential get a lot done, and we were soon stuck in. Whilst Kati Law, Louise Galvin, David Bilton, Zena Whalley, Jackie Cork and Lisa Waldron on got stuck into the planters, Ben Godfrey and myself got busy with the litter pickers....I do love a litter picker!
In a busy hour we managed to tidy up quite a few large planters and collect about half a dozen bags of rubbish, leaving the town centre decidedly tidier than it had been. The strangest discovery of the night had to be a Mr. Potato Head happily residing in one of the planters!
Thanks to everyone for your efforts this evening, good to see Lisa return to the group after her initial visit on our launch night nearly two years ago!

Despite the forecast thunderstorms eight GoodGymmers made their way to Scammonden yesterday evening. It was great to see Wendy out again after lockdown. The weather actually turned out to be a lovely, warm, sunny evening. Although those of us who decided to run around the reservoir before the task felt that it was a little too warm! Our task was to collect discarded tree guards and to pile them up in a central spot ready to be loaded into a skip. As usual Huddersfield GoodGymmers quickly got stuck in carrying armfuls of guards down the hill to near the sailing club. I lost track of who managed to get all the way there without dropping any! After a couple of trips we had made a significant dent and shifted about quarter of the guards, and it was time to make our way back to the carpark. On the way we had to pose with the tree planter statue of course. It was a climb back to our cars but we were rewarded with individually wrapped cheese scones baked by David at the top. We will be back at Scammonden on the 8th September for some more tree guard shifting. You can sign up here: https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/collecting-tree-guards-at-scammonden

lt was just like old times, meeting at the Stadium for a GoodGym task. But in line with the current Covid restrictions there was no run to the task, instead we popped up Kilner Bank directly behind the Stadium for an hours worth of litter picking and rubbish removal.
Thanks to Kati Law, Ben Godfrey, Louise Galvin, David Bilton and Jackie Cork for your efforts this evening, your efforts were litter..ally stunning.
