Goodgym Brent met on Monday and welcomed Josh to the group, first time for Brent having moved from Islington.., and definitely not the last. Pete led the group to Abbey Community centre where we were warmly welcomed....with a contest to see who had the reddest face. Tabitha won, sorry everyone!
We were handed leaflets to spread to the neighbouring houses, containing details of the great community events run at the centre, and asking for volunteers or donations. We split into three groups and tackled a street each. Once all the leaflets were successfully distributed we jogged back to Kilburn and stopped in the Black Lion....where Becka revealed some birthday cakes for Lee...which had (just about ) survived the run!
Excellent work everyone! The team at Abbey were very pleased with our efforts.

On Monday night Goodgym Brent ran to Granville Kitchen where we helped give a deep clean. They had three large fridges that needed work plus a huge dirty cooker. We scrubbed , washed and wiped until it shone
Great work Team!

Goodgym Brent, a group so fine, Ran to Mora School on Monday night divine. Tidying a store cupboard with a might, Becka found a rubber duck, what a sight!

Afterwards, back to the pub they did trot, A well-deserved drink, for what they had wrought. Goodgym Brent, a shining light, Bringing joy and help, day and night.

On Monday Evening 8 Goodgymers met at Brent Mencap, the biggest group all year ! We welcomed Olivia from Greenwich who is touring the London areas , and we welcomed back Helen visiting from Rotterdam and Liz from down South.
a traffic jam plus A mix up over meet up points meant we missed Samina and James who hope to join us soon
We warmed up by each calling out our name and an exercise , then set off together to Abbey Road community centres new venue . Liz led the way and Tabitha back marked We soon arrived where we met Jason who had stacks of leaflets printed advertising the new centre and the volunteering opportunities available. Abbey Community Centre is a vibrant multicultrual meeting place that provides a safe environment an a warm welcome to its users. Activities vary from fitness, gardening and IT, with plenty of educational, recreational and social opportunites.
We split into two groups of four and ran up Belsize park road delivering the leaflets... while dreaming of owning any of the very grand houses
When finished our piles we re grouped and ran back to Willesden green . All the running had tired a few of us out so we walked the last uphill stretch.
Overall it was a 9 km round trip , great job everyone on trememdous running! We waved goodbye to those headed home and a group of us stopped off in beer and burger to replenish all those lost calories!
