On a remarkably hot Tuesday evening, 20 GoodGym Coventry runners ran 3 km to complete the mound moving at Spon Gate school, with an added bit of painting thrown in. It was great to meet Anna for her first GoodGym Coventry run.
Thanks to Lil for her offer of a walking group and Elise, Anna and Vic for their photos.
As it was so unbelievably hot today, preserving ourselves was of the utmost importance so we sought out shade at all opportunities. It was great to hear about parkrun adventures, Allan and Susanne, and to hear about trail runs-Elise.
We set off as a run / walk pace to travel the short distance to Spon Gate and soon set into groups to complete the tasks. It was really important that jobs were rotated and runners kept hydrated at all points. So everyone had a go at wheeling, shovelling, spreading and painting. We unearthed some great rocks and a grate. And smiled as several members started to look a little smurf-like after their painting shifts. I The team worked fantastically and it was son clear that we would complete the task today but it would mean skipping the fitness session- due to the heat and the very physical nature of the task, everyone had completed a full body workout already :)
We took it easy on our return to Drapers, stretched and caught up. It will be a few weeks till we see Susanne again as she is off for adventures on a tandem- have a great time Susanne.
Have a good week and see you all next week, Liz x
Next week we will stay behind for drinks at Drapers as an unofficial social.

Jo Smith has done their first good deed with GoodGym.
Jo is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

On a lovely, sunny Tuesday evening, 19 runners set off to tidy up the Canal from bridges 1-3. It was great to see welcome 3 new runner, hello Jo, Cathy and Dave. It had been a busy weekend with parkrun appearances and great runs and personal bests at Northbrook 10km. As a supporter on the course, it was great to see so many familiar faces running well!
Tonight we were supporting the Canal and Rivers Trust and helping maintain a cycle way for Sustrans.
It was clear to see as we set off that the canal has been used more regularly recently in the warmer weather as there was plenty of rubbish for us to collect. Many hands definitely made light work and there was a flurry of activity as we cleared the areas around and between bridges 1-3. The most interesting find this time was a note excusing a child from PE due to mountain climbing! along with a water pistol, shoe, safe and DVD.
After heading back into town, we used a new location for a speed work fitness session that was a twist on the traditional relay run. All runners enjoyed the session, possibly enjoying the up hill leg less than the downhill leg.
Here are the links to the two local runs you might be in Sunrise 5km and Chase the sun.
Have a lovely week, Liz x
