Bromley Report written by Bromley runner
The bushes bit back as we returned to the Crystal Palace Water Tower ๐ฆ๐ผ to discover that, despite our best efforts to remove the soil over the past 2 years, nature found a way.
We met at Bridge House on a hot day ๐ฅ, but not too muggy and starting to cool off, ready for a run. This week's question - what's your favourite Olympic sport ๐คธ to watch? Paris 2024 having begun to grace our screens from the start of the weekend, we had a diversity of answers from aquatics to gymnastics to archery.
With introductions done, we powered around the park ๐ on Crystal Palace Park Road, climbing the steep hill (though less steep than the direct routes!) and reaching around the top to drop into the water tower (figuratively), where we met John and the news that we had our work cut out for us ๐งโ๐พ
However, the weeds weren't deep rooted and the soil was ill, so they came out really easily and we did a lot in the allotted time. We bagged up our work and dragged it out, and said goodbye to John.
The run down was through the centre of the park with a beautiful evening view of Bromley and Bexley, veering off and round the south side of the park back to Penge.
John was really pleased with our efforts and we'll be back next week to carry on ๐ช

Three GoodGymers arrived at BFC to help Erina and a couple more BFC volunteers with their first delivery of the day.
There were a variety of tasks to be done while waiting, including cleaning up the veg trays and the fridges, packing up bread and cous cous, and tidying up the shelves so that the items from next delivery of the day can fit in.
Mon 29th Jul at 7:00pm
So the space can be accessed as part of Museum tours

Joel Coppersmith earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Joel completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Joel was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

There were two GoodGymers, Elsie and Joel, and two volunteers from St Georgeโs, Erina and Comfort. The food bank isnโt open on a Monday, so today was the day to take in new deliveries and get the shelves set up right. We sorted through veg, unpacked and stored donated food from supermarkets and the like, and filled the shelves ready for tomorrow. We got a second delivery and had time to unload that ready for the afternoon team to complete the job. All in all was simple but satisfying, nice to meet new people and the loading and unloading provided some physical effort to boot.
