Bath Report written by Bath runner
A FABULOUS STARTER SESSION tonight to KICK START SPRING into action at Goodgym Bath with a whopping 20 runners taking  part in a 2k run to St Marks community centre in Widcombe, the task was phase 1 of prep work to wire brush and clean down the railings and main gates ready for painting at a later date.
OMG!!
WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME to Penny, Kerri, Katy, Angharad, Rachael, Oliver and Emily.....Whoopee!! and High 5 or 7 as the case may be.
A few more announcements before we headed out for the warm up and headcount with a flowery theme for all the mothers out there doing their thing.
CONGRATULATIONS to ALISON
on completing 50 Good deeds and earning those Black thunder wingsâŚ. Yippee!! Thatâll be another black t-shirt in the group, plus sheâs now mission verified.
The run route out was a short run along the riverside to Widcombe and to our task destination. Alex was our host this evening, he had wire brushes a plenty to assist with the job of prepping the main gates and railings with face masks and gloves on offer this evening to provide suitable protection as we are working with old paintwork safety is important.
A lot of elbow grease from our wonderful members was required on this job but there was opportunity to take a break and be on ladder holding duty for those working on the gates. Squats whilst shining the lights was another one to a bit of Depeche Mode
TIME UP ON THE TASK
There was however enough time to enjoy some sprint 3âs before taking a steady run back to the leisure centre for our stretches and reminders that youâll need to bring your ID along to group run for verification before you can embark on Missions or be paired up with your own Coach.
Thank you to Christopher for back marking and to Rachael and Penny for tonightâs fabulous pun this evening with too many to choose from this evening but we can bag the others for another day. Â Â

Whoop!!! Our final run in the dark now spring is officially here. Time to pack those head torches away until October.
A change of plan on tonight's task for 10 lovely Goodgym runners, so from flyer dropping for Forever Friends at RUH and the Walk of Life (which has now sold out of places) to flying out 4k to RVP to lend a hand tidying the play area and skatepark.
Pascale kindly offering to lead the group out for Steph who is injured but she will follow on to the Task (by car I'm afraid) and to Emily who was back marking.
Well done to Emma who completed the Forest of Dean Half at the weekend.. whoop!! Rain has stopped and head count done, all is good at Goodgym Bath.
Runners vs car .. let's just say it was a close call and it also gave the group a chance to indulge in some walking lunges.
Thankfully the rain held off and we split into two groups with 6 raking the sand over, whilst the remainder went in search of litter. There was even time for some of the group to test out the play equipment (at their own risk) plus it gave me a chance to grab some Boomerang shots. Well that 30 minutes flew around and it was time to pack off and head back to the leisure centre for a nice little stretch out.
Thank you John for tonight's lovely Pun and with Mary Berry being from Bath, a perfect Pun! no not a bun but a pun.
We have our quiz social on Thursday 30th at The Boater, starting at 7.45pm.

Fantastic turn out at Goodgym Bath tonight... whoop!! 17 runners turned up on this cold evening for a 6k run and each and everyone of them armed with an unwanted hat/gloves, coat or blanket to hand out to the rough sleepers in the city. I think it's important to feel thankful for what and who we have in our life, because any set of circumstances can change how and where we live.
Great to see some new faces this evening, welcome introductions during the headcount to Charlotte and Abi. (Red laces on the way for Lydia, Nicola and Emma). Tony Gambiccia who cycled across from Keynsham to donate a coat and Matthew Palmer who kindly took our group photo on his way out from spinning, hopefully they'll join us soon. Thank you guys. Time to hit the streets and cover as much ground as we could in search of rough sleepers, It wasn't long before the group were able to start handing out everything needed to help keep someone a little bit warmer and some lovely very grateful people out there tonight to make use of our unwanted items.
We even had time for some sprint work tonight in the form of sprint 3's plus some agility work and of course some walking lunges as requested by Lydia, although she did get a few side glances from the group members...ha!! Love enthusiasm in the group. A bit of furniture fitness on the benches in the Southgate centre with a final clothes drop on Pultney bridge before heading back to the leisure centre for a few stretches. Great fun tonight with lots of laughter, not only because Joe was like the caped crusader running around and Sam was trying to hand stuff out to people who weren't homeless but still happy to receive a free jumper.
Thanks to Abi for tonights pun and to Pascale for back marking.
You guys are all fabulous and remember without you, it wouldn't be possible, there is also a chance to bag a free pair of red laces if you bring a friend along during Jan and Feb.
Bring your ID along to the next group run to get paired up or go with n missions.
Don't forget The Boater quiz on Thursday Jan 26th at 8pm.

HILL HATH NO FURY tonight at Goodgym Bath for 13 keen runners chomping at the bit to RUN FOR THE HILLS, more precisely a 8k trip up to Odd Down cycle circuit to seal the floors in the bike store. This is a great place where people of all abilities can come and take a variety of bikes out around the circuit.
Lovely to see some new faces tonight along with the trusty regulars, so a warm welcome to Alice and Jon joining us tonight before headcount.
We used the start of tonight's run to warm up with a nice steady pace before making a 4k assent to Odd Down playing fields, no hill reps required on this run but boy we do love a Hill in Bath. Our host Felix was there to greet us in the cycle store and quickly had team 1 clearing the middle cage whilst team 3 mixed the glue 7-1 and team 2 the sweepers stuck in the middle, the challenge was to seal the floor to protect and control the dust, it's an extremely well used space for a variety of groups, some bikes are specially adapted providing an invaluable service to people with disabilities. After all inclusion is extremely important.
The group worker wonders in the 30 minutes given to complete this task, DIDN'T THEY DO WELL (if you don't get it, it's because your too young) Group photo in the bag before heading back down that even more lovely hill to the leisure centre for a nice little stretch and reminder to bring you ID along to the next group run if you wish to be paired up or go on missions.
Thanks joe for leading whilst Steph back marked and Joe for tonight's fab pun and everyone else for coming along and being totally awesome as always.
A reminder to bring an unwanted coat/jumper or blanket/sleeping bag or anything to keep the rough sleepers warm on the streets of Bath https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/coats-for-the-homeless We also have a Saturday starter sessions for the next two weeks.

Well after all that rain yesterday I guess our 18 Goodgym runners were lucky not to swimming the 7k out to tonight's task at aptly named WATERY LANE for Action on Hearing Loss.
The very talented Pascale took the lead on tonight's run with her interpreter skills for the deaf. We are possibly the only Goodgym who can accommodate deaf runners and with extra help from Anne and Lucy we really do have inclusion covered on this one.
A very warm welcome tonight to Steve, Meera and the return of our fabulous two super girls Emma and Lydia who left us to play boules, I mean what ever next.
A good warm up to get us on the right track for a flat but long run out to Twerton and not forgetting that all important headcount before the starters pistol. Wellies may have been more appropriate this evening but we are made of tough stuff at Goodgym Bath so literally took it in our stride with a few puddle jumps along the way with a good mix of strengthening exercises on route. from step ups to press ups.
Evan who is the volunteer gardener at Action on Hearing Loss was eagerly awaiting us and with the help of Pascale was able to communicate his gratitude to the the group and give us our instructions for tonight's task in these lovely gardens.
He soon had use raking and sweeping the driveway and footpaths of leaves and manoeuvring them down the woodland Path tithe composting bins. They say time flies when your having fun and that was certainly the case tonight and it was soon time to leg it back to the leisure centre for a well deserved stretch and a lap of honour for Meera who did a fantastic job of smashing the 7k run... well done !!
Thanks for letting me(Steph) back mark tonight as for once I didn't need eyes in the back of my head. Thank you Steve for tonight's pun. He can definitely come back.
Remember to bring your ID along if you wish to be paired up or do missions.
