We welcomed David to his first GoodGym session this evening - great to have you along! He certainly got stuck in with our task, helping to take down some shelving.
Meanwhile, Lucy, Richard and I joined Clare at the new unit to help put up the new Repair Cafe / Library of Things signage. Cue lots of scrabbling up and down ladders, then an emergency jig-saw break when we realised the sign was a little too long!
Back at the old unit, the rest of the team made great progress filling holes, taking down shelving and sweeping the floors. We finished up by taking a few bits and pieces across the new unit. Sinéad has reassured us that, despite appearances in the photos, she was not in drink whilst using a power tool!
So much achieved in such a short space of time - amazing work, everyone!

Bravo brave GGers, battling with high winds, inside-out bags and bored or bemused pet dogs!
We each chose a beach or river to litter-pick during September, getting out in the fresh air to join the Marine Conservation Society's campaign to clean Britain's coasts and inland waters.
Well done for taking a moment from your month to make a small difference that adds up to a big impact.

In a late change to our task we set about giving the Gibson Centre a good scrub down.
The cages were taken off the radiators, many spiders were relocated and the water was dirty in minutes. We schwooped with brooms, swished with dusters and Abby fixed the Scouts sign and hung it back up with pride. No clothing was found this time round, however the discovery of a discarded toenail more than made up for that 🤢
We made use of the echo in the hall to rendition some Sound of Music classics and took a turn at yodelling.
With thanks to Katie for giving us a list of tasks we happily crossed them off. Jazzing it up with some added French 🇫🇷 and pizza 🍕 drawings to make it look more fun! And we even found a new trophy to use for GG fun times, comment with some ideas as to what you think the award should be for. I think the first congrats is to Wilson on good deed #400!!!
Discussions around Katie trip to Oz and the recent Victorious festival filled our time and we were soon flashing the board, and then cleaning it! 😜

Superb efforts from everyone who took part in litter picks across Portsmouth and beyond today!
Mel and Vicki kicked things off nice and early with a pick at Alexandra Park, although Jane was actually first in with her pick last night! Julie received plenty of praise from passers by as she cleaned up by Lidl. Laura and her dog, Woody, completed an early morning beach clean. It seems Woody was disappointed he didn't find any snacks, only food wrappers!
We've had a trolley retrieved from the chalk cliffs of Paulsgrove by Lucy and Duncan, a beach clean in Bracklesham with an accompanying sea dip for Judy and Val and a whopping 16 mile run with a cemetery litter pick by Andy!
Nia and baby Zoe headed to Southampton Common for their pick, whilst Dave and I took a stroll through Sherwood Forest to burn off a very unnecessary sundae!
Ness and Sinéad focused on the shoreline for their picks at Fort Cumberland and Langstone Harbour respectively.
We'll be back to normal next week with a visit to the You Trust in North End for some painting and decorating. Hopefully see you in person then!
