Karen, Nigel, Maurice & Nicola had a lovely (and interesting) evening collecting litter around the memorial square and town centre. It wasn''t too bad for litter but we still managed to collect a decent amount.
We had some good chats along the way - one with a very lovely skateboarder who came and chatted to us and thanked us enthusiastically for our efforts, and another with a regular parkrunner who recognised us from parkrun. And then sadly, a chat with a lovely lady who'd had her bike stolen. It was such a shame for her. Hopefully she'll be reunited with her bike....
We enjoyed admiring the lovely lit up trees on the square as we did our litter pick but the hi-light was our lovely catchup afterwards at Hops where we had a drink and some nibbles while we put the world to rights.
Loved being with you all xxx

5 GoodGymmers made their way through the low-lying mist to volunteer at Crewe parkrun this morning. And what a busy morning it was! Karen and Nigel did the course check and swept a huge amount of leaves and pine needles off the course; Nicola welcomed all the volunteers and made sure they understood their roles, followed by welcoming all the first time parkrunners and explaining the course; Karen was Run Director today so gave the welcome and safety briefing before starting the parkrun; Nigel was one of the timekeepers; and at the end Maurice and Emily sorted the 393 tokens, Karen processed the results, and Nigel put everything away ready for next week. We love how parkrun just pops up on a Saturday morning, and is gone just as quickly with no trace - all made possible by volunteers. Well done GoodGym!

Karen, Nigel, Maurice and Nicola spent a lovely (slightly cool and slightly dark... yep, it’s getting to that time of year!) evening doing one of our favourite Goodgym activities… a litter pick!
There’s something about a litter pick that’s very rewarding. you start out with empty bags and by the time you finished, have bulging bags! To think that all that litter has now been taken off the streets is really satisfying and rewarding!
And the best part of the evening of course, is being with lovely friends and enjoying their lovely company.
Well done, everyone. That was a fab evenings work!! You're all amazing ❤

The sun shone on parkrun today - such a relief after this week's weather! Of course, it was always going to shine with a GoodGym task on the calendar!
Nicola volunteered as the Run Director today, and it almost seemed an easy role after a week of trying to recruit volunteers. Kat, Karen and Nigel were part of the cavalry to save the day - Kat as volunteer coordinator for the first time, and Karen and Nigel pairing up as timekeepers. Volunteers expertly coordinated by Kat, it was over to Nicola to deliver her warm and welcoming run briefing to the 322 participants. Today was Nigel's 250th volunteering day with parkrun - an AMAZING achievement, congratulations Nigel! - and started his role today with Karen once Nicola got the run underway. Fast forward an hour, and the last person clicked in across the finish line, it was time to close the event down and leave everything ready for next week, leaving no trace of parkrun being in the park - just a pop up community that appears every week at the same time. Tokens sorted and replaced, and results processed - all done!
All in all a very smooth event made possible by the volunteers, and Kat topped off the morning with a personal best time on the course - well done Kat!

Hazel, Maurice & Nicola had a super productive evening cutting back a hedge that was completely blocking a PROW (public right of way). The path is used daily by local residents but it's become overgrown making it difficult for people to use, especially anyone using a wheelchair or walking frame.
So, we cracked on and set to work with the shears and loppers. We didn't escape without a few nettle stings and bramble scratches but we were chuffed with what 3 pairs of hands achieved in a short space of time!
Hopefully the people that use the footpath will notice a big difference tomorrow and find it a bit easier to get down the path!
Awesome job everyone - you're amazing!! ❤
