Derby Report written by Rachel Carthy
Ashley, Pete and Rachel met with task owner Ali from Friends of Littleover Parks to discuss what the group would be doing to help with park maintenance.
Litter was collected from the children's play area and then the group set about removing weeds from where the safe rubber flooring met concrete. It was great to see the park being used by so many - children in the play area, dogs being walked and sport being played.
Although sad to see the Olympics 2024 come to a close, the group were all looking forward to the Paralympics and reflected on how well Team GB had done and what a fantastic games it had been for the host nation.
Thanks to everyone who helped out this evening, well done Pete for actively travelling to the session and a huge thankd to Ashley for providing something for the group to graze on post session.

Ashley, Pete and Rachel managed to find one another in the city centre after some road and car park closures meant a slightly later than planned start for this session.
The group set off for the Hope Centre to make their donations to the foodbank and to do some litter picking along the route.
Grateful for a break in the hot temperatures we've been having lately, the group cooled off in the city and discussed all things GoodGym, with it making a move to being community led in Derby, and what everyone had been up to.
It was great to introduce someone to what GoodGym is all about when they came over and asked the group and Ashley showed everyone a Korean streetfood restaurant that he thoroughly recommends.
Photo is of Ashley and Pete carefully considering what they're having for tea, the future of GoodGym Derby and all the good deeds the duo have done for their community.

Pete, Lewis and Rachel welcomed back Helen who is fast becoming a GoodGym Derby regular and also Manlin on their first volunteering session with us!
It was great to see a new face on the team, Manlin is interested in the Tiny Forest site as part of their research work for their dissertation.
The team assembled at the Tiny Forest having travelled there by car, train or on foot and set about a plan for the evening. Thanks to Pete for clearing some litter from the recreation ground in front of the Tiny Forest site, Pete collected a bag of litter and left this at a bin at the end of the session.
The team made a visible impact, clearing nettles, thistles and ragwort and making the beginnings of paths inside the Tiny Forest. This was all whilst being distracted by a furry visitor who was very interested in what the group were doing. It transpired a local resident had been feeding the fox and now pretty tame, it had come to see if any food was available.
For most of the group, it was their first time at a Tiny Forest site so it was great to have Helen there who knows the site well as she and her work colleagues planted the trees when the site was first created.
Thanks again for everyone who helped out and good luck to Lewis who has two huge life events happening over the next few weeks.
Keep an eye out for the next Tiny Forest session with GoodGym Derby.
