Bath Report written by Meyrick Williams (He/Him)
Bath City Farm is one of our favourite missions without a doubt, with plenty of adventure to be had for all. This Saturday, five eager GoodGymmers headed off to add additional pages to the story of our contribution there. Welcome to newcomers Katrin and Matt, to whom Meyrick warned them that 90% of the time, a GoodGym mission at Bath City Farm involves manure.
We were joined shortly thereafter by Jane, who additional offered similar manure warnings, as did Stephen when he arrived; piling on the manure expectations.
You can imagine our surprise when were were told by our host for the day, Helen, that this occasion was in the 10% of tasks that are non-manure related. I feel there may have been some disappointment in the ranks at this news but Helen did suggest that if wanted manure, she was sure she could find something for us. We demurred.
The task she did have for us was clearing a patch opposite the mini horses and next to the chickens. There was a rather overgrown area that needed to be made more presentable, and cleared of unwanted plants and weeds. I believe the fundamentalist wing of the 'Horse & Chickens Deserve Better Views' had been lobbying the Bath City Farm Parliament for this with clucks and neighs.
There was a lot to do, but we are GOODGYM and we work quick. It was fairly routine with nothing to report, (after all, what happens at Bath City Farm stays at Bath City Farm), but there were some incidents with the Burdock....
We completed the mission, job done. Hopefully this will reduce the clucking and the neighs from those chickens and mini-horses, and allow the ducks to raise their voices, as I know they have a bill to pass...

It's definitely summer now, after months of trying we've finally had some nice warm days and evenings to enjoy. This evening was no exception.
Five GoodGymmers arrived in the always beautiful Sydney Gardens to help clear away weeds form a really interesting area that the organisers would like to open up to the public. Cosmo, Stephen, Helen, Vicky and Meyrick were the team.
Did you know there were grottos under Sydney Gardens? Apparently back in 1794 a roof was built to enclose a natural reservoir at the top by the tennis courts. There are to gates blocking entry to this area, which as far as I'm concerned is a grotto, and the organisers want to clear the area to allow the public to view inside.
Weeding we are good at, and we made quick work of it. There will be a lot more to do to clear enough soil from the doorways in order to get to a place where the public can view through the doors into the mysteries of the grottos within, but this was a start.
Well done GoodGymmers, when this is complete we can say we helped with this.

7 goodymers jogged or walked to the secret garden/cementry looked after by the Bath Preservation Trust in Widcombe. Up a short alley and hidden behind giant gates lies the land that time forgot.
Overgrown with nettles and bind weed, the team began to clear huge sections of the garden to reveal the ancient wall markings indicating where burials lie.
The team did a fantastic job and in no time the area looked so much better!
Fingers crossed for not too much sunshine and showers as the weeds will return with a vengence

Stephen James completed 25 good deeds with GoodGym.
Stephen has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.

Bath Report written by Jane Flynn
5 Goodgymmers and one honorary fluffy Goodgymmer met on Tuesday evening to litter pick a section of riverbank. Between the Lidl footbridge and Windsor Bridge, we filled a binbag each, leading someone (me) to lament that "people are gross and terrible" and subsequently be dared to make that the title of the run report...I can only apologise. We were very lucky to catch a break between rain showers, left with a satisfying feeling of leaving a small corner of Bath looking a little bit nicer and saved lots of bits of plastic and approximately 50 bajillion cigarette butts from ending up in the river. Good job, team!
