Wow, what a scorcher!
10 of us met up at the Haven to help reclaim some overgrown space in order that it could be used for a kitchen garden. Ultimately the plan is to have a 'roof on legs' and to use the space to cook their homegrown food together and enjoy it together al fresco looking out at the sunset, picking fresh herbs that will grow alongside.
But enough of my waxing lyrical, first there were brambles to clear! Everyone pitched in with shears, loppers; Tom and new guy Kieran (feel like I know him from somewhere) even got stuck in with a pick and mattock.
Some of the roots were extremely stubborn as Sara is demonstrating in the photos so it was really impressive to see the space almost entirely cleared by the end, we even managed to keep the blue water pipe intact!
Sadly in attempting to get a good idea of the scale of our accomplishment I staged the group photo 2 or 3 miles away, but I've left it in to show how productive we were.
Thanks to Jason for the pun (see - we managed ok didn't we š?) and apologies to anyone under 40 who has no idea what it means.
Welcome back to Steve today and thanks to Jenny for helping him to find us - the Haven is certainly a hidden gem!

Tom B earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Tom completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Tom was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Tom B logged their first training run with GoodGym.
Oh yes. Tom is training. This is how the greatest atheletes on earth are made. Tom is making it happen. They logged their first training run on the GoodGym site; extraordinary things are sure to follow.

It was lovely morning at May Park primary school today. Our task was to get all of the wooden fences and structures in the playground painted. We divided and conquered with buckets of paint and brand new paint brushes(!!) to get the job done and had fun catching up as we went and moaning about other's not doing the edges and then realising we didn't need to do the edges.. ahem
We stopped for a break at the mid way point and felt re-energised for the final push. The school teachers were really pleased with what we had achieved and we had a great time doing it. It even stayed sunny!
After a creme egg or 3 we headed on our merry way. A fantastic way to spend my 200th good deed. Thanks all (and especially to Jenny for the vegan cake) š
