Brighton Report written by STEFANIA ROSSO (she/her)
Well, well, ... really well astonished we were to find out how shining still was the upper floor that we cleaned two weeks ago. Well, well, ... really well done Good Gymers! Easy job done, then!? Ehm, what about those hidden corners, skirting, stair wells, toilets, and windows, and cabinets, and...
Heigh-ho!! There is always something more we can do to help the Real Junk Food Project in the Gardener community Cafe' so centrally located in the heart of the Brighton North Lanes. So, more we did!! A fantastic group action of 11 Good Gymers with the (user-) friendly support of "Henry" (The Hoover) turned this cafe' in a never-ever-been- so-clean one.... almost :-)
Congrats Liam getting his first good deed with Good Gym Brighton! And, welcome backJack and Will who relocated from London already thinking how to join Good Gym coached runs to visit an older person in Brighton.
Sadly, visiting Jcand Geraldine have announced that their “life in Brighton” is ending soon, but there is a promise of “Au revoir’ cake at our next Tuesday session:
Sign-up now to reverse a bite ;-)

Will completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Will was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

On the weekend we took over Dulwich parkrun and it was a huge success! We ran, we paced, we timed, we barcode scanned, we funnel-managed, we supported. It was a wonderful morning. Massive kudos to everyone who made it special.
Tonight is the GoodGym London social and it's happening at Prince Arthur Pub near Old Street station. Find out more and sign up here.
The Olympics sign up has opened! Sign up for an event and find out more here.
I'm sad but excited to announce that I'm leaving London in August to move to Sheffield to go back to University. Of course there will be a leaving do and I'll miss you all so much!
That's enough of the business
Last night we ran a whopping 11km overall to Upmarket Charity Shop in Rotherhithe to rub down the shutters and prep them for painting.
We arrived at exactly the same time as Emily who has been helping Father Mark with supplies - good timing! Father Mark explained the deal: use the scourers to rub down the shutters, wipe them clean and dry and then it was time for black paint!
After rubbing down (a very noisy affair!) we got to cleaning and wiping them dry and onto the paint. We were a bit low on brushes and rollers so I took half the group off for a run-and-squat loop around the block and swapped the groups over when we got back. Unfortunately Girija, who met us there, has an injury so we replaced running with walking for the second loop of the block.
With some super-speedy painting at the end of the session we managed to complete the first coat. Hooray! We're looking forward to coming back next week to do another coat.
A big thanks to Father Mark for meeting us there! On the way back we were a small but merry band of three runners - big kudos to Nicky and Will for running home. Everyone else took various transport options home.
See you next week.

9 runners met on a sunny night to run 4km whilst wheeling trees around Peckham.
With the sun shining, transport only slightly delayed and some willing hands, legs and backs, we ran a short distance to Peckham Multiplex to meet Asha, Creative Director for the inaugral Peckham Festival celebrating all things and people cultural in Peckham and around.
She had a load of trees in metal wheeled bins to be pushed about 1km from the Cinema to Copeland Park where the festival is taking place.
We split into teams of 3 with Asha as our front woman leading the way and making sure cars had spotted us and that we were still going to get under the bridges and powerlines with the super big trees.
Trees on wheels
It took some serious muscle pushing the bins particularly on some road that could do with attention. It was a task that took brains as well as brawn with some tight spaces to squeeze through.
Celebs for a night
I'm not sure the people of Peckham have witnessed wheelie trees before so we were snapped and have no doubt been posted to social media sites.
We did the effort twice, moving all the trees that weren't being used as bicycle racks. 6 trees in place two weeks before the festival is pretty good going and the festival team were pretty pleased with our efforts and very grateful for the help. We beat their pb!
Special thanks to Asha who was wearing jeans and carrying a handbag but still jogged with us on our way back for round two.
Not content with moving the earth, we went for a quick session on the Rye involving pairs, running round a Willow Tree and various core exercises to help speed.
We finished up sweaty and pleased with a bit of a different task complete and an all over workout.
Special thanks to Will's brain for this weeks pun title.
