Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Anastasia Hancock (she/her)
It was a beautiful day for a lunchtime bank holiday group session yesterday, and we made the most of it!
We met earlier than our usual Monday run so we could make the most of our extra day of holiday, and it was great to welcome Rob to his first - but hopefully not last!- visit to GoodGym Wandsworth.
We took a warm run down to Battersea Park's herb garden. This special place is a horticultural therapy garden, and as well as offering support for vulnerable adults, every single plant grown there has a medicinal purpose.
We had a tricky start trying to track down the tools we needed, but after a bit of hunting we got our hands on secateurs and trugs and got to work. Our task was to give the hedge a good trim, and we soon discovered that it doubled up as a good upper body workout as well!
Before long the giant hedge had been given a tidy new hair cut, and was looking much smarter. So we tidied up all the clippings, posed for a quick photo in front of our work of art, and then headed off into the park.
People were streaming in ahead of the outdoor concert taking place later that day, so we hunted down a nice quiet spot for our core session. It was quite a tough one, with flutter kicks, planks, and bicycles, but, as we reminded ourselves, no pain, no gain!
Next week we're back to normal timings, and we'll be back for our monthly trip to Doddington roof garden followed by our pub quiz social. Until then, happy GGing everybody.
