A pointed conversation with a rose bush or two and some brambles, in a Garden full of Delights!!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Lewisham.

Arriving at the mission the introductions went a little like this, ’I’m Monica’, Mr S ‘Monica is the boss’, ‘I’m Mary’ Mr S ‘Oh Mary is my sister’s name Mary from the dairy’!! Inviting us into his home he walked us through to the garden.
Mr S needed work done in the front and back garden, we opted to start on the back garden hoping we would have time to make a start on the front; a bit over ambitious!! Mr S had two sheds full of gardening equipment; he explained he used to be a keen gardener, now can no longer manage it. After explaining that I am the kind of ‘boss' who likes to work we got stuck into the task’. We cut back the shrubs at the bottom of the garden tided the flower bed and Mary replanted a periwinkle; and donated some verbena!
The garden was full of lovely flowers African daisies, roses, and honey suckle; job in the back garden completed it was a shame we had no time to start on the front.
Mr S loves his garden we chatted for a while about his late wife and his love of gardening, Mr S, apologised for not having time to join us! We explained what we had done; and said we had cleared the bottom of the garden cleaned the bench so he can now sit outside and enjoy his garden again. Mr S said we are welcome to visit him at any time.
