Five GG Yorkies, and Mitch who was doing half a task before beer runners to make up for only doing half a task (11 minutes) on Sunday met at St Nick's to scythe away some wildflowers

Tonight we welcomed Alex to GG York. He has just moved back from Bristol, where he was a coach runner.

We set him straight to work on his first community mission with a scythe. He turned out to be a natural.

Jonathan was quite keen to explain why it was OK to cut back wildflowers, but we were only worried if they were ones we'd planted - they weren't! (Something about making sure the ground wasn't too full of nettle nutrients and making room for a JCB to dig up the underground beck)

Within 90 minutes we'd cleared the whole area.

More scything next week. Come and join us!
