Following an afternoon of heavy rain and many months of dark Wednesday evenings, this evening's light, dry and (almost) warm conditions were a real treat. As always, it was also a pleasure to spend time with a lovely sociable bunch of GoodGymers and to get lots of good stuff done in a short space of time.
Task-wise this evening's good stuff involved helping out All Saints Junior School, whose PTA are busy with a big project to make-over their nature garden. In about 30 minutes we filled up a skip with a huge pile of debris including plastic, carpets, rotten sleepers and loads of sticks, and we got lots of steps in too going back and forth between the garden and the skip. We then planted around 12 saplings near the school entrance, which brought back happy memories of tree planting at Ockwells over the Winter.
More good stuff from this evening included...
- Welcoming Jordan for his first GoodGym session. Great to meet you Jordan and well done on your first GoodGym good deed!
- A sociable run to the task. We didn't have any walkers this evening, but we had a 3.6km route and a 1.7km route for runners to choose between. Congratulations to Rachel for running with us for the first time.
- Georgeta running in her wellies again
- Rhi and Steve blasting up Punt Hill in their sprint finish
- A steady stream of jokes from Steve, who branched out into more tree and stick puns this week. There were too many for me to log them all, but he did make a tree-mendous effort.
- We learnt that Nicola's reflective jacket definitely works
- Anita and Steve's second good deeds of the day - go team!
- Some of us stuck around for well-deserved refreshments at the Windsor Castle afterwards
We hope to be back at All Saints school soon and we are excited about seeing the next stage in the garden makeover. Hope to see you there! In the meantime keep an eye on the GoodGym Windsor & Maidenhead listings for lots more opportunities to get fit and do good.
