Back to Mrs B’s-ness
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Wandsworth.
- Thursday, 2nd of April 2020
On Thursday I helped out with another shopping mission, and ended up Back at Mrs B’s. I was buzzed up to her flat, ‘Oh it’s you again’ she smiled, leaving her shopping list and bags on the doorstep. Mrs B is socially isolating from COVID-19 as she is a vulnerable and has health issues, so can’t get out to the shops herself. We had met the week before on my first GoodGym shopping mission! We discussed her list (from six food away) to ensure I got the chocolatey chewy eclairs and not the choux pastry variety, and the right flavours of ‘moments’ ice creams ‘make sure you get two boxes!’.
I cycled up the A3 to the big Asda, and joined the end of a now-standard queue to enter the building. Once in, I worked my way down her list and round the store. I filled the trolley with her goods, and almost managed to get everything from the list, with the eggs-ception of digestive biscuits and, well, eggs. There wasn’t mushroom for anything else, so it was time to pay and leave.
Heading back was interesting, as I wobbled up the hill laden with the shopping. The bounty was delivered, and Mrs B was delighted to have her ice lollies! Who knows, maybe next week will be a third trip for Mrs B. I’m certainly getting to know my onions with her now!
