Giving litter the boot (ok trainer)....
3 GoodGymers made their way 5.0km to help their local community in Derby.

After meeting outside Jurys Inn and comparing our hi-vis gear we set off to litter pick alongside the River Derwent. Rachel finally managed to find a discarded face mask (one of our litter picking bingo items) along with the usual cans, bottles and food packaging along the route. Some of the more unusual items tonight included a sock, a trainer (pictured at the crime scene), a filthy dog's toy monkey with a carrier bag for a bow tie and half a huge toblerone bar. We definitely all thought about joining in the fun at the rowing club as the music carried down to the park below (and maybe risking the toblerone) but we stayed focused on our litter picking task.
We covered just over 3 miles doing a loop of the park and enjoyed seeing the atmospheric Darley Abbey Mills lit up. Ashley told us about a tasty meal of duck he'd once had at Darleys and we paused to think about just how locally (sauced) it was given the location next to the river.
Lots of chat about what tv shows we're enjoying at the moment and recent runs. Pete has been a parkrun tourist at Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire which he would thoroughly recommend as a beautiful course and Ashley has been clocking up the miles with some longer runs in preparation for an event.
Thanks to Ashley and Pete for helping out on tonight's session and clearing 3 bags of rubbish from the route!
