It was truly a mega mission yesterday! Eight GGers came to help out at Wandsworth allotments on a day that started out bright and sunny and ended up being pelted with hail. The job involved shifting masses and masses of wood, metal, compost and all manner of bits and pieces that had built up over the years and now had to be moved so that the council can put up a fence around the perimeter. This was a huge job which would have been difficult for the older allotment holders. After a thorough briefing we got stuck in, wheelbarrows and secateurs at the ready. To the sound of a very insistent cockerel and watched over by a curious robin we worked hard for almost two hours until the worsening weather forced us into the shed for shelter. Great job everybody, and a huge thanks for jumping in to help!
