Here's what Ms N of SE3 had to say about the mission:
The girls who came were absolutely nice and did a great job!
Credit for the report's pun title goes to Alex Murtough, thank you very much for coming up with the pun and letting me steal it! :)
It was a hot Saturday afternoon when Jenny and I met outside Ms N's house. We had already marvelled at the beauty of the street and the front of the house, and this continued when we were taken to the back garden - it was a gorgeous space, made all the more beautiful by the sunshine! And this was before we had even done any work!
Beautiful as it was, the garden was indeed in need of some TLC as a lot of the plants were overgrown and weeds had taken hold of some spots. Armed with tools and gloves, Jenny and I tackled the weeds by pulling, digging and cutting! An hour later and the garden was starting to show its previous form. Another hour of work saw the garden waste bin getting fuller and fuller as all the weeds remants were stuffed inside, and the pesky dandellions scattered amid the grass were ruthlessly pulled out. When there was no more space in the green bin, we decided it was time to go. Tools were put back in their places, the bin was wheeled back ready to be collected by the council team, and Jenny and I packed our gloves.
Ms N had shown surprise when she saw that the GG volunteers were "two young people". Hopefully our little help has done the trick in restoring Ms N's garden and her faith in the younger generation!
